Description
Further your career as an assistant program director (APD) for a new emergency medicine ACGME program at St. Luke's Campus - Mohawk Valley Health System in Utica, New York. This key role will partner with the program director in planning and coordinating academic and operational activities of the residency program and provide administrative supervision and guidance to residents regarding administrative issues, due dates, deadlines and other key elements.

The APD will be responsible for ensuring program, faculty and resident compliance with ACGME and providing guidance on policies and issues as it relates to GME requirements. The anticipated start date for the first class in this program is summer of 2022.

Qualified candidates must be Residency Trained in Emergency Medicine and currently board certified or truly board eligible with current ATLS, ACLS, PALS & stroke certifications.

Qualifications

  • Board-certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and at least five years of post-residency clinical experience.
  • Seasoned emergency medicine educator with experience in an ACGME-accredited residency program and a proven track record of educational accomplishments within an academic medical center.
  • Ability to create curriculum, develop assistant program directors, and build collaborative relationships across the hospital system and additional formal training and experience with program development, scholarly activities, educational leadership experience and ACGME accreditation desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across all aspects of residency education, including clinical, educational, research, and ACGME accreditation activities.
  • Provide mentorship to and develop the assistant program directors.
  • Implement innovative curriculum design and assessment initiatives across multiple education platforms.
  • Collaborate across departments and institutions to ensure optimal resident experiences.

Flushing Hospital Medical Center is the oldest continuously operating acute care hospital in Queens and serves a vitally important role as a 293-bed, not-for-profit teaching hospital in the heart of one of America's most diverse communities. The Emergency Department recorded nearly 43,000 visits in 2019. The ED is an ACEP certified Geriatric Emergency Department and a major expansion and modernization project is currently underway.
