ACEP 911 Network Action Alert
February 6, 2018 - Please contact your federal legislators TODAY to urge them to abandon efforts to cut Medicare payments for emergency physicians in order to offset the costs of the “Medicare Extenders” package expected to be voted on this week.
To help shoulder the costs of these temporary extenders, Congress has proposed a two-year extension of the so-called “mis-valued codes” initiative that has already reduced physician payments. Further extending this policy would negate the payment updates provided under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) that were designed to provide stability as physicians transition to new Medicare payment models. ACEP is concerned that this initiative will establish permanent cuts for physician payments to pay for other temporary Medicare extenders.
