New York ACEP Advocacy Efforts Prevent a $20 Million Cut in ED Reimbursement

The Governor's proposal to cut $20 million from the Medicaid budget for "Avoidable ED Visits" was rejected in the final budget. Many thanks to all New York ACEP advocates who answered the call to action and contacted their legislators. Other budget items of interest:

 

  • The budget did not contain the Governor's proposal for a Health Care Regulation Modernization Team. New York ACEP successfully advocated for the defeat of this proposal. 

  • The budget did not contain the Governor's proposal for a tax clearance as a pre-condition of receiving Excess Medical Liability Insurance Coverage. New York ACEP successfully advocated for defeat of this proposal.

  • The budget did include $127,400,000 in funding for the Excess Medical Malpractice Program. New York ACEP successfully advocated for its inclusion.
