Medical Student Symposium
March 8, 2012
Over 135 medical students from around the state attended New York ACEP's 2012 Medical Symposium held at SUNY Downstate. Students enjoyed presentations ranging from "Real Life as an Emergency Physician" to Residents Panel: "What We Wish We Would Have Known as a Resident." Fourteen residency programs participated in the Residency Fair immediately following the education program.
Emergency Medicine Residents Career Day
November 2, 2011 More than 300 residents attended this year's Residents Career Day held at the New York Academy of Medicine. Immediately following the education portion of Career Day was the Job Fair that included twenty-nine hospitals and recruiting firms.

National ACEP Council Meeting
October 15-18, 2011
Twenty-one council members and six alternates represented New York ACEP at the ACEP Council meeting in San Francisco. During the meeting, New York ACEP member, Andrew E. Sama, MD FACEP, was elected President-Elect of National ACEP.
ED Director Forum

Over 70 ED directors from around the state attended the very popular and widely recognized New York ACEP ED Director Forum at the New York Academy of Medicine on Friday, May 6, 2011. Attendees enjoyed a full-day of education featuring nationally recognized experts. Ten exhibiting companies participated.

Students enjoyed presentations ranging from "Real Life as an Emergency Physician" to "Residency Directors Panel." Fourteen residency programs participated in the Residency Fair immediately following the education program.

Emergency Medicine Residents Career Day

Three-hundred and thirty-four emergency medicine residents participated in the 2010 Career Day held at the New York Academy of Medicine. National ACEP President and New York ACEP member, Dr. Sandra Scheider, presented the opening lecture entitled, "The Future of Emergency Medicine and Advocacy." This year's program also featured a Practice Options Panel and a Fellowship Options Panel as well as the infamous battle of Jeopardy.
The job fair that immediately followed featured 36 ED recruitment firms, hospitals and groups.

Nearly 200 residents from across New York State attended the 2010 Resident Research Forum held at the New York Academy of Medicine.
New York ACEP 2010 Scientific Assembly
July 6-8
Nearly 200 emergency physicians gathered at the magnificient Sagamore Resort on Lake George to hear insightful lectures on the ever-changing practice of emergency medicine. Attendees could earn up to 14.25 hours of ACEP Category I credit during this three-day event. Over 34 companies participated as assembly exhibitors and supporters.

Dr. McCabe chronicled a career path that has taken him from being an emergency medicine physician to becoming a hospital CEO. His presentation included the essential characteristics, skills, education and professional activities that have been instrumental in this transformation.
Physician Networking Event

New York emergency physicians gathered at the New York Academy of Medicine for a lecture presented by Gregory L. Henry, MD, FACEP on Medical Malpractice. In addition to his duties as Medical Practice Risk Assessment, Inc. founder and CEO, Dr. Henry directed a hospital emergency department for 21 years and is on staff at several area hospital emergency departments, including the University of Michigan Medical Center. His contributions to the field of emergency medicine are legend and he has a keen interest in improving patient safety.
Emergency Medicine Residents Career Day

Three-hundred emergency medicine residents participated in the 2009 Career Day. Dr. Lewis Goldfrank, Dr. Robert Strauss and Dr. Kristin Harkin were among the faculty that provided residents with information on establishing a career in emergency medicine, alternate career pathways and legal decision-making in the job market.
The job fair featured 34 ED recruitment firms, hospitals and groups.
