Young Physician and Resident Leadership and Advocacy Award
Nominations are now closed for the 2012 Awards. Applications will be reviewed and screened by the Awards Committee and recipients selected by the Board of Directors by majority vote.
This award was created to promote leadership and to advance political action and advocacy among emergency physicians through attendance at the ACEP Leadership and Advocacy Conference May 20-23, 2012 at the Omni Shoreham, Washington, DC.

Purpose This award was created to promote leadership and to advance political action and advocacy among emergency physicians through attendance at the ACEP Leadership and Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC, May 2012.
Eligibility A young physician and a resident in good standing in an accredited residency program within New York State. Special consideration will be given to resident candidates planning to practice in New York State. Young physician candidates must be within their first three years of practice.
Award Maximum reimbursement $1,000 per recipient.
Number of Awards One award for a young physician and one award for a resident with alternate recipients for both awards.
Award Requirements The award recipients will attend the ACEP Leadership and Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC, at a minimum, the Leadership and Advocacy Essentials for Residents and Young Physicians session and stay through and participate in Senate/House visits with New York ACEP Leadership.
Selection Criteria The applicant should be able to demonstrate in their application their leadership potential and their interest in political action, advocacy, or leadership. The applicant’s desire to attend the conference should be clear, concise, and support a commitment to leadership and service as evidenced by their curriculum vitae or letter of recommendation. Previous involvement with New York ACEP's Emergency Medicine Resident Committee (EMRC) or another New York ACEP committee should not provide additional weight, as the goal of this award is to foster additional opportunities for physician leadership training. Special consideration will be given to resident candidates planning to practice in New York State.
