Help Deliver Emergency Medicine's Message
New York ACEP's 911 Network is designed to convey New York ACEP's legislative messages to the State Assembly and Senate. Members of the Network address a range of issues that affect emergency medicine through letters, phone calls and visits with legislative representatives. The Network is most effective when we are able to utilize the strengths of our diverse membership from across the State. A strong voice for emergency medicine is imperative when facing a difficult fight on an issue.
We need your help! On many occasions, a legislator has little or no information on an issue. A letter, phone call or visit from a Network participant provides an opportunity to educate the politician, as well as their staff, on emergency medicine's unique perspective. Through this contact, ongoing relationships are developed that allow emergency physician's a voice and provide legislators with a resource.
To be an effective network, it is important to have a 911 Network member for each legislator in the New York State Assembly and Senate. Ideally, emergency physicians in each district will develop a relationship and rapport with the senators and assembly members within the district and make a commitment to keep well-informed of New York ACEP's legislative priorities.
New York ACEP members interested in becoming involved in the Network should be willing to contact legislators, develop relationships and respond to New York ACEP Action Alerts.
