Advocacy Center

New York ACEP's Legislative Network is designed to convey the Chapter's legislative messages to the State Assembly and Senate. Members of the Network address a range of issues that affect emergency medicine through letters, phone calls and visits with legislative representatives. The Network is most effective when we are able to utilize the strengths of our diverse membership from across the State. A strong voice for emergency medicine is imperative when facing a difficult fight on an issue.

We need your help!
On many occasions, a legislator has little or no information on an issue. A letter, phone call or visit from a Network participant provides an opportunity to educate the politician, as well as their staff, on emergency medicine's unique perspective. Through this contact, ongoing relationships are developed that allow emergency physician's a voice and provide legislators with a resource.

To be an effective network, it is important to have a legislative Network member for each legislator in the New York State Assembly and Senate. Chapter members interested in becoming involved in the Network should be willing to contact legislators, develop relationships and respond to Chapter legislative alerts. If you are interested in getting involved, fill out the Chapter legislative network profile. If you need to identify your representatives, go to the New York State Board of Elections District Maps and Representatives webpage.
